When moving more than 40 miles, be sure to look into your moving company's credentials. In Michigan, that means they should have a CVED# registered by the Michigan State Police. Using any mover without this credential puts your belongings at risk. If your mover doesn't tell you it's because they don't want you to know. 

The state of Michigan's standard liability rate for household goods shipping is $0.60 per pound, per item.
